A: The concept began in 1982 with Satellite Agency Network (SAN) of New England in
response to the changes in the Independent Agency system. At the time, many local agencies were finding it difficult, if not
impossible, to meet volume requirements, attract and keep markets, and survive. SAN allowed the local independent agencies to
remain independent, keep markets, attain new ones, generate additional revenue and receive profit sharing
without having to sell, merge, or cluster with other agencies.
TAA is building on SAN’s success.
